Thomas Partey has had his fair share of injury problems since joining Arsenal from Atletico Madrid a year ago, but he is in assertion to make his fifth start in succession

Since coming back from an ankle injury that kept him out for the first month of the season, the Ghana international has been overseen carefully by Gunners manager Mikel Arteta in a bid to prevent a repetition of what happened last season.

Thomas Partey played the final half-hour against Norwich City on his comeback, and then 75 and 60 minutes respectively in wins over Burnley and AFC Wimbledon.

That has demonstrated to be the trick as the midfielder has now finalized 90 minutes on his last four appearances in a row for both club and country.

Patrick Vieira has already sent a 10-word message to Thomas Partey ahead of Arsenal returnfootballlondon

And he’s returned to north London in fine form after netting in consecutive games for Ghana over the international break.

But amid some fears over Partey’s workload, Arteta has acknowledged he still has a decision to make in respects to starting the 28-year-old against Palace on Monday night

“Well, let’s see. We have not had the players here yet, some of them because they are still traveling,” the Arsenal manager said in his pre-match press conference last week. “He played well and scored a couple of goals.”

With Granit Xhaka unavailable for selection, the onus is very much on Partey to be a leader in the engine room until the Switzerland international resumes full fitness.

So does that mean the former Atletico Madrid man is in line for the fifth start in a row in Arsenal colors?

That may be the case as if his social media action is anything to go by.

As seen in the image above, taking to Instagram, Partey has done his best to hype up the big game at the Emirates Stadium which could suggest he’s in line to start.

However, it should be pointed out that Partey has also done this in the past for games that he’s missed.

Two recent examples happened last season ahead of Arsenal’s wins over Chelsea and Newcastle United where he wasn’t even named in the matchday squads due to recouping from a hip problem.

Arsenal provided a team news update earlier in the afternoon, confirming that Partey is available for selection.

Assuming he starts, Arteta has a big decision to make concerning who partners the Ghana international in midfield.

In a 4-3-3 formation, Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe would be in line to operate as ‘8’s whilst in a 4-2-3-1 system, Mohamed Elneny, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Albert Sambi Lokonga are all in contention to partner Partey in the double pivot.
