Champions League quarterfinals between Chelsea and Real Madrid will be attended by fans both at home and away, say the club’s chiefs.
Due to sanctions against owner Roman Abramovich, Chelsea were therefore expected to be unable to sell tickets for their upcoming matches against Real Madrid, the Sun reports.
They are concerned, however, that the government may loosen the licence to operate the club in the future.
After UEFA punished Abramovich similarly to the UK, initial concerns were raised about whether the tie could take place. However, those fears have been allayed after Chelsea was included in Friday’s quarterfinal draw by UEFA.
It is believed that the governing European body has reportedly told the west London club that they will follow the UK government’s current stance on ticket sales with regard to the clubs participation in the competition. That would have caused major disruptions to the current broadcasting deals.
