Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta gives details explanation on his Subtitition in Everton defeat as he snub Nicolas Pepe again

Nicolas Pepe

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has inisisted that Eddie Nketiah deserved to be in his squad ahead of Nicolas Pepe in Everton defeat on Monday night.

Nicolas Pepe has not been featured for the Gunners in their last five league matches.

The Gunners boss was asked about his decison to keep the Ivorian on the bench.

“Because I decided to play Eddie today. To bring him on. He created three chances and hit the post once in 25 minutes I think… He does every day in training what you see him do here. Every single day. That’s why I picked him.” Mikel Arteta said.

Fans are wondering why the Gunners boss has to pick Nketiah ahead of Pepe. It can be recall that Nketiah has been asked to leave the club by January to prevent the Gunners lossing him on a free transfer and yet Arteta seems to have more faith in the yongster over Nicolas Pepe.

Aubameyang and Nketia

With January transfer window looming around, It’s likely that Pepe might be considering a move away from the North London side.

Many Arsenal fans will accept the fact that Pepe hasn’t be able to justify his worth when given the opporturnity this season, but Arteta decision to chose non-committed Nketiah ahead of Nicolas Pepe will be questioned.
