Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta drew criticism from pundits after last weekend furious altercation with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Arsenal manager made a vow that he will “always defend his Arsenal Players” despite receiving different criticsm for his touchline action with Jurgen klopp in their 4-0 defeat at Anfield Stadium last weekend.

Arteta clashed with Klopp after Sadio Mane fouled Gunners defender Takehiro Tomiyasu in the first half while the game was still level at 0-0.

Jurgen Klopp was keen to draw a line under the incident as at full-time, and many pundits felt it was a key moment that changed the game and turned the table in Liverpool favour.

Prior to the touchingline burst-up both team had been closely-matched and the game looks more balance at the moment, leading many pundits to believe that the Arsenal boss should have hide his emotion and control himself better after Sadio Mane challenge.

However, Arteta had vowed that he will always stay to fight and protect his players.

Mikel Arteta was asked about the incident with Jurgen Klopp on Thursday morning and the Spaniard had this to say;

“With the situation I had with Jurgen, I think you have to be spontaneous and do what you do,” Arteta said. “I will always defend my club, my team and the players on the pitch.”

Asked how his players responded to the flashpoint, he responded: “I don’t know, it’s who I am. If I feel like this, I will react and if I feel I have to defend my players then I would do it.”

Arteta was also quizzed on why he is much more calm in press conferences than he can appear on the touchline and replied: “Well, I don’t know. Maybe you don’t give me enough motives to go another way! But it’s part of our character.”

Arsenal 4:0 defeat at Anfield Stadium brought an end to thier 10 matches unbeaten run in all competitions.

The Gunners will be taking on Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium this Saturday as they hope to push into the Top-four spot.
