Confirmed Team News – Arsenal vs Liverpool | Chamberlain, Tomiyasu, Minamino, Smith Rowe, Fabinho and Partey

Arsenal vs Liverpool Team News

TEAM NEWS: The original first leg became the eventual second leg, and now Chelsea’s League Cup final opponents can finally be revealed, probably.

With postponed matches still very much a thing within English football, Arsenal may as yet have their way, and see this very game postponed.

With a raft of players loaned out, a few injured players to add to their current covid case and AFCON related personnel, the sense is that the game must go ahead.

To add to Arsenal’s troubles, Granit Xhaka has begun his ban. Thomas Partey, Nicolas Pepe, and Mohamed Elneny are still abroad, with Partey returning first. Emile Smith-Rowe, Bukayo Saka, Cedric Soares, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Callum Chambers should all be fit following the postponing of their weekend match (against Tottenham).

Sead Kolasinac appears to be departing (if he hasn’t already), while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the previous captain, is still on the bench.

Liverpool will be without Naby Keita, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane, who are all at the African Cup of Nations. Thiago Alcantara and Divock Origi are still on the injured list, along with Harvey Elliott, and Nat Phillips is still out.

The return date for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was injured in the home encounter, is unknown. With a first-leg result that would have frustrated Klopp, the Reds will undoubtedly attempt to exploit Arsenal’s midfield.

Liverpool Team news

Liverpool’s next game is against Palace on Sunday, so they’ll almost certainly be at full strength for this semi-final. Kaide Gordon could be a surprise starter, though Taki Minamino, who is more experienced, would most likely start alongside Firmino and Diogo Jota.

James Milner and Fabinho will most likely pair Jordan Henderson or Curtis Jones in the reds’ midfield. The starting lineup in midfield will almost certainly be determined by fatigue and match fitness, with Ibrahima Konate likely to be introduced by the defense.

Kostas Tsimikas could start in the full back positions, but rotation may be ignored in the primary.

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal has problems, but if the match is played, the majority of their non-AFCON players ought to be available. Ben White, Gabriel, Keiran Tierney, and Callum Chambers should start in the back four.
Any system might be used in the attack and midfield, but suspensions, loans, and the AFCON contingent will be an issue..

Arsenal looked significantly more relaxed in a defensive block after Xhaka was sent out, so the game will be fascinating.

They will not be able to revert to such a technique because they are the home team (and will be starting with a full team). This might be the turning point for Arsenal, as Klopp would be anticipating and preparing for another low block.

The tactical makeup of this game will be crucial, and Mikel Arteta will be the one to watch. Liverpool is a one-dimensional team, and they will want to force the Gunners into a more open game.

The game’s progression will be exciting, and with a final on the line, it has the potential to become another classic.

Virgil is a player to keep an eye on.
