CONFIRMED: Arsenal Team News – Saka, Odegaard, Smith Rowe and injury updates ahead of Slavia Prague clash

Mikel Arteta has issued an injury update from his squad ahead of the trip to Slavia Prague on Thursday and there is mixed news for Arsenal fans

Arsenal are back in action this evening when they face Slavia Prague in an all-important Europa League clash.

The Gunners have little hope of qualifying for Europe ahead of next season via the Premier League, meaning winning the Europa League is their only hope.

But they already find themselves narrowly behind after the first leg, albeit on away goals, drawing 1-1 after conceding in stoppage time at the Emirates Stadium.

They now head to the Czech Republic needing to score and to get a big result to progress and they won’t be helped by a number of key injury doubts, including star man Bukayo Saka.

Bukayo Saka

Saka limped off during the win over Sheffield United and remains a doubt for this one.

Speaking about Saka, Arteta said: “I don’t know, he had to come off, he had some discomfort in his thigh. It’s the last thing that we need because we’re missing some big players at the moment and we don’t want to lose another one.”

Emile Smith Rowe, David Luiz and Kieran Tierney

Speaking about the other injury issues, Arteta added: “I don’t know the extent. I think for Thursday David [Luiz] will be out, Kieran [Tierney] will be out, Emile and Martin we don’t know yet. And Bukayo we’ll see how he will develop in the next few days.”

Martin Odegaard and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang and Odegaard both missed the weekend’s win over Sheffield United.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference about the pair, Arteta said: “I don’t know we have to see today how they are. We still have a couple of other ones as well in the last few days so we will have to see how everyone is today and after training how they react for tomorrow’s game.”

Asked if they will train on Wednesday, he added: “Depending how they wake up. If they wake up better yes. Yesterday none of them could train. Hopefully today it’s a sunnier day so maybe it’s better.”
