Huge Boost for Arsenal as injuries struck Liverpool squad ahead of Carabao Cup Semi-final

Liverpool vs Arsenal Carabao cup Semi-final

Thiago Alcantara will miss all legs of Liverpool’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Spanish midfielder has been absent from each of the team’s last three games after testing positive for Covid-19, and he is currently sidelined with a hip issue.

Early reports speculated that the former Bayern Munich man would be out for the rest of the season, but Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that this is not the case, despite also ruling Thiago out for an extended period.

“No, neither March nor till the end of the season is in my mind,” Klopp stated after Liverpool’s FA Cup win over Shrewsbury Town.

“It’s something around the hip,” says the kloop”and it’ll take some time.” He didn’t train this week, but we expect him to return to rehab work starting tomorrow, and then we’ll see what happens.

“No, he’s not out until the end of the season,” says the coach.

Thiago will, without a doubt, miss both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal due to his injury.

The first game is set to take place at Anfield on Thursday evening, with the second leg to follow a week later at the Emirates Stadium, after the first leg was postponed, due to Covid 19 in Liverpool camp.

The 30-year-old has had a number of issues since joining Liverpool from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020.

As a result, in a half season, he has only made 44 appearances for the Reds, scoring three goals.

His absence adds to the Merseyside club’s numerous issues ahead of their match against Arsenal.

Nathaniel Phillips, Divock Origi, and Harvey Elliott are all still out with injuries, while Alisson Becker and Trent Alexander-Arnold all came back positive for Covid-19 lately.

However, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, and Naby Keita are all unavailable due to their participation at the Afcon in Cameroon.
