Arsenal vs Newcastle: Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has provides injury updates ahead of the Gunners next league games against Newcastle United.

The Gunners will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Staurday afternoon.

Arsenal suffered a hevy 4-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool last weekend that saw Mikel Arteta men 10 games unbeaten comes to an end. But the North London team can reset things whn they take on Newcastle United on Saturday.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta in his pre-match press conference on Thursday morning provided his team news and talk on injury concerns including Granit Xhaka fitness.

Granit Xhaka has been on the sidelines since sustaining a knee ligament injury during the Gunners 3-0 victory against North Lodon rival Tottenham in September.

The Swiss international was initially ruled out for three months and was expectef to return back to action in early January but fortunately for the London club, the midfielder has been making excellent progress in his treatment in recent weeks.

The Arsenal boss confirms on Thursday morning that Garnit Xhaka is expected to be be available sooner thqn expected, and the Gunners boss hope to have the Swiss captain back before new year.

Mikel Arteta also confirms that his squad had no any fresh injury at the moment, so all team memebers are expected to be available for selections.

Hopefully he will be a little bit sooner than expected, he is training and pushing himself and all the staff so hard like he always does. He is in a good place, he is evolving well and hopefully we can have him a little bit earlier. It is still a bit early to decide.

on whether it could be before the end of the year…

I hope so, yes. Arteta said.

Arsenal are currently sitting fifth position on the Premier League table following the defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. A win over Newcastle United will push the Gunners closer to the top-four spot.
