Arsenal Midfielder Granit Xhaka will not be leaving Arsenal this summer as a report claim he is close to extend his contract.

Granit Xhaka will be staying in Arsenal. A report from Sky Sport News claimed the Gunners Midfielder is close to agreeing a new contract.

Xhaka has been linked with a possible move to AS Roma, with Roma Boss Jose Mourinho said to admire the 28-years-old midfielder.

Arsenal are trying all possible means to tie their star down with a new contract will which will see his salary increase.

Xhaka scored Arsenal only goal in Gunners 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in a Pre-season friendly on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.

Xhaka midfield partner Thomas Partey sustained ankle injury on sunday following a collision with Chelse’s Loftus-Cheek, there’s a posaibility that Partey may miss the start of the season and this is one of the reasons why Arsenal need to act fast on the Swiss Captain.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has give more insight on Xhaka’s transfer sega after his side pre-seaaon defeat to Chelsea, the manager said: ‘Xhaka is staying. He wanted to play, he is a key playwr for us’.
