“We need to be in Europe again” – Arsenal Lagend David Seaman reveals his concern over Arsenal’s biggest need this season

Arsenal Lagend David Seaman and Mikel Arteta both admitted that Arsenal needs to qualify for some type of European tournament this season

David Seaman and Mikel Arteta have both come to an agreement on Arsenal’s need to play European football next season, with the Gunners eluding continental competitions this season.

Arsenal, for the first time in 25 years are not in Europe after finishing in eighth-place in the Premier League last season, but will be motivated to put that right this time around.

The Gunners are presently 10th-place in the table after nine games of the season, with Arteta’s men unbeaten in their past five matches in the top flight.

Last time out, Arsenal cruised past Aston Villa with a 3-1 victory on Friday evening, the Gunners showed the attacking mastery they have throughout the 90 minutes.

Speaking to the Mirror after the victory, the Arsenal Lagend talked about the first three matches of the season, where Arsenal were beaten in every game, with nine goals against them and zero scored.

“It was a rocky start, you know. What happened in the Brentford game wasn’t expected,” Seaman said.

“When you’re playing Chelsea and Man City, you can get beaten by both of them. For, me that wasn’t a surprise. But losing three in a row, with Arsenal bottom of the league and Tottenham at the top, that was murder.

“But we’ve changed that around now and that’s a credit to Mikel and his team.

“I would say that finishing eighth or ninth is not Arsenal, it’s not the way it should be. We need to be in Europe again, and it feels really strange that we’re not playing week in, week out like the others.”

When he was asked where he sees Arsenal finishing this season, he replied: “Anywhere in the European spots, the top six, would be good.

“We need to be back in Europe, it does feel so weird that Arsenal are not even involved. But from where we’ve come from over the past 12 months, I think the fans can see we’re improving. Hopefully, we can get back to where we belong.”

Seaman explaining about Arsenal’s desire to be competing on a European front once again is a similar impression to what Arteta indicated last month, with the Gunners boss acknowledging it hurts to watch the competitions without the north London club taking part.

The Arsenal Lagend said in September: “It hurts a lot. In the past few days, it was hurting to put the television on and see those teams in there and not see Arsenal there, it was painful.”

Asked if it was a drive so Arsenal were not in this position next year, Arteta said: “10percentnt. I don’t want to be sitting with Arsenal out of those competitions. We have the focus and the trigger is that.”
