ARSENAL Expected to finalise deal for Italian side midfielder in coming days

Arsenal is expected to finalize a deal with Juventus for Arthur Melo in this same Winter transfer window, according to reports.

Mikel Arteta prefers the Brazilian midfielder, and the Gunners are looking to add more depth to their squad this month.

The 25-year-old has managed eight Serie A appearances for Juventus this season, but Mikel Arteta wants him on a short-term deal as his squad recovers from injuries.

According to rumors, the Serie A club is willing to let him depart if the Gunners agree to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Juventus is reportedly said to want a player in exchange and has asked for Thomas Partey, but that could be a difficult request for Arsenal to meet.

Meanwhile, football commentator Kevin Phillips previously suggested that Arsenal must complete the deal of the Juventus midfielder, particularly after sending Ainsley Maitland Niles on loan at AS Roma.

He told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs, “They might have Melo placed up to come in over the next few days.”

“I believe they’d be foolish not to put someone in the wings.” Of course, things are never that simple in the Jan window.

“You’d like to assume Arsenal has thought things through.”
