UPDATE: Arsenal close to complete signing of Laliga Top Striker.

Alexander Isak to Premier League

Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hasn’t played for the Gunners in six matches, and his absence is poised to continue with the former captain’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations this winter.

The question then becomes whether he will return at all, rather than when.

After being left out of the team for the recent loss to Manchester City, Aubameyang was allowed to join Gabon ahead of the other African international players in the squad, casting more doubt on his future.

Alexandre Lacazette has stepped up to lead the line admirably in his absence, contributing to some of Mikel Arteta’s best performances. Even though the Frenchman has handled the captaincy role with professionally, his time with the team will be brief.

Arsenal are leading the race to sign Alexander Isak, with Barcelona pulling out of a possible deal due to Real Sociedad’s £75 million release clause.
Rumors about a possible contract extension continue to circulate, albeit any offer, one hopes, will be limited to a single year.

However, there shouldn’t be one either; in Lacazette’s position, a longer-term deal with more guaranteed minutes will undoubtedly be on his mind.

Arsenal’s striker problem is a complete disaster. The highest-paid player has been stripped of his captaincy and, rightly, shunned; the next two options can both negotiate pre-contract agreements with other clubs ahead of free transfers in the summer; and the fourth option isn’t fully prepared for Premier League football yet and will be loaned out to the Championship.

Finding a new center-forward is a crucial part of the team reconstruction. The inclusion of a No. 9 to connect all the other pieces together, much like Lacazette is doing now but with a touch more talent and age on their side, can raise Arsenal to a new level, given the way the club is evolving and establishing its identity.

A slew of names have been bandied around, and one of them, Alexander Isak, has gone quiet after being mentioned as a possible target for the club earlier this summer.

Isak put an end to transfer rumors in July by signing a new contract with Real Sociedad that runs through 2026 and has a release clause that has been increased from the previous one to at least £75 million.

El Nacional, on the other hand, claims that Arsenal is still willing to invest in the 22-year-old despite Barcelona’s financial reasons for pulling out of any deal, and that the club has no intention of strengthening a direct opponent for European places. Arsenal and Arteta are said to ‘love’ Isak’s profile and are presently leading the race to sign him.
