Arsenal look out of the picture in the race to secure Bruno Guimaraes, and the Gunner’s are now considering Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz as a possible alternatives if Guimaraes deal failed completely.

Few weeks back, Guimaraes has been one of the main target of Arsenal in this January transfer window, though Newcastle United have now emerged as the top favourites to land the Lyon midfielder.

According to Evening Standard source, it was claimed that the North London club are not completely out of the race to signed the Brazilian but the Gunners will need to battle with Newcastle to secure the signing of the Brazil International.

In the meantime, Mikel Arteta is instead planning for a possible move for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, having worked with the midfielder since his working days at Manchester City.

It was reported that Aston Villa already rejected a £30m bid submited for the 23-years-old midfielder.

Although the bid did not cone from Arsenal and this simply means that Arsenal will be looking to tender a bid above £30 million if they’re to stand a chance of securingvthe 30-years-old signature.

Luiz only has 18 months left on his contract with Aston Villa, with no plan of extending his deal at the moment.
