Chelsea stole three precious points right at the dying minutes of the match. Alan Shearer hails Tuchel’s perseverance throughout the match.

Manchester City hosted their upcoming opponents in the Champions League final in their home.

Premier League is almost confirmed for the hosts but they need to make sure they make a statement ahead of the big showdown in Istanbul. Alan Shearer told in the post-match analysis that this final can rejuvenate the English dominance in Europe.

Two of the Chelsea players were specially mentioned by Alan Shearer in his post-match comments on BBC, Match of the Day.

The hosts took the lead through a tap-in scored by Raheem Sterling. Things were looking a bit difficult for the visitors as they gave away a penalty right after conceding the goal.

However, Sergio Aguero took a horrible attempt to chip Mendy and failed miserably. Since then, the visitors were in control of the game. However, the halftime team talk of Tuchel worked like magic for them as Hakim Ziyech scored a stunning goal with his right foot.

And in the 92nd minute, Marcos Alonso scored the winner which gave them a huge boost in the top four race.

“The reason why they were much better in the second half was that they got Alonso and James a lot higher up the pitch and a lot more involved,” Shearer told BBC Sport’s Match of the Day. He then went on to show the graphical data to prove his point.

“Reece James, who I thought, particularly in the second half, was magnificent, gave [Benjamin] Mendy a torrid time. His pace, his drive, and his quality to get up there… they couldn’t handle him. There were at least three or four occasions when he was able to do that.” He added.
