Liverpool could be missing playmaker Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the Carabao Cup semi-final Second-leg against Arsenal on Wednesday.

The former Arsenal star was forced to leave the Reds’ 3-0 victory over Brentford on Sunday after collapsing in the closing moments of the game.

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp stated after the game that the 28-year-old had hurt his ankle, but he would not know how long he would be out until later.

It means he might not be able to play in the semi-final facing his former team on Thursday.

Arsenal start the second leg with home ground advantage and a resolute 0-0 draw from the first game at Anfield.

The Gunners were down to ten men for the majority of the encounter after Granit Xhaka was sent off for a last-man challenge on Diogo Jota.

Mikel Arteta and his teammates defended courageously against a Liverpool squad that battled to break them down, despite the fact that they struggled to generate anything.

However, the Spaniard faces selection problems for the second leg, with a handful of players injured, away at AFCON, and hopeful about Covid-19.

Because of these considerations, Arteta’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur was canceled on Sunday, which may work to his benefit if he can field a better group and have more rest before hosting Liverpool on Thursday.

Klopp and his team, on the other hand, may be on the receiving end of that, since Oxlade-Chamberlain was forced to leave their game on Sunday due to injury.

“Its something with his ankle, he sprained his ankle,” the manager explained.

“Right now, we’re hoping it’s nothing terrible, but we’ll find out more or receive the final word soon.”

“It’s far too early to predict how serious the injury could be].” I’m not sure” kloop said

It’s possible that Reds might be without a playmaker for the game, and given his goalscoring exploits against the Bees just at weekend, he’ll be a big absence.
